Islands Heritage Livestock
Islands Heritage Livestock is the Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands chapter of Rare Breeds Canada.
Their members are located all over the "big" island from Black Creek in the north to Sooke in the south, as well as on Saltspring and Gabriola Islands. Their members keep and breed a wide variety of sheep, goats, cattle, chickens, ducks and geese. They sell breeding stock, as well as products from their animals such as meat, eggs and wool.
By giving these animals a place on their farms and by finding commercial uses for their products, members of Island Heritage Livestock hope to ensure their continued survival.
This chapter is active in having displays at fairs, giving talks, organising workshops, public education and working with the media. Please visit their website for more detailed information.
